CAA Atlantic launches 10th annual Worst Roads campaign

March 23, 2021 – Saint John,  N.B. – For the 10th year, CAA Atlantic is asking Atlantic Canadians to cast their vote for the region’s worst road. The annual Worst Roads campaign launches today and will run until April 13, 2021. Every road in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador is eligible.

“The purpose of our Worst Roads campaign is to highlight the number of dangerous road conditions in the region,” says Gary Howard, Vice President of Communications at CAA Atlantic. Tens of thousands of votes have been cast since the campaign began in 2010. “Poor road conditions affect everyone, and over the years we’ve seen communities leverage Worst Roads as an opportunity to bring attention to problematic roads in their region.”

Results will be tallied after the campaign closes, and CAA will share the 10 Worst Roads in Atlantic Canada, along with any available information on planned updates for each. “One of the things we’re most proud of with this campaign is that it not only gives citizens a platform to bring attention to roads in need of repairs, it also gives governments a forum to share repair updates or maintenance plans with the public,” says Howard.

Here are 2019’s ten Worst Roads (there was no 2020 campaign due to COVID-19):

  1. Tripp Settlement Road, Keswick Ridge, N.B
  2. Waterford Road, Waterford, N.B.
  3. Markland Road, Colinet, N.L.
  4. Indian Meal Line, Torbay, N.L.
  5. New Brunswick 905, Petitcodiac, N.B
  6. Meadowville Station Road, Pictou, N.S.
