Bike Assist at CAA Atlantic

As Atlantic Canadians are increasingly using bicycles as their main mode of transportation, we're introducing CAA Bike Assist – Roadside Assistance for your bicycle.

If you run into a problem that cannot be fixed on the spot, CAA will transport you and your bicycle to wherever* you need to go. It's available as part of your Membership.

Members will not have to pay extra to be eligible for Bike Assist as it will now be a new permanent benefit for existing Members!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is CAA offering Bike Assist?
Canadians are making a shift towards a greener lifestyle and choosing products and services that are socially responsible, and may use their bicycle as their main mode of transportation. Bike Assist is added value for those of our Members who do cycle, or are interested in a CAA Membership for reasons not related to a car.

  • What will the service time be?
You can expect the same great service with Bike Assist as you’ve come to trust with our regular roadside assistance calls. In some cases, it may take slightly longer, as only a few of our service vehicles are equipped to pick up bicycles.

  • Where is Bike Assist provided?
Bike Assist is currently offered in Halifax, Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton. As demand increases, we plan to expand to other regions of Atlantic Canada soon.

  • Will drivers try to fix the bicycles?
We don’t offer bike repair or maintenance, or fix flat tires, but we will gladly tow the bicycle and transport the cyclist.

  • Does CAA unlock bicycles or cut securing devices?
No, since the ownership of the bicycle cannot be verified.

  • Will CAA service underage children?
Yes, but only if a parent/guardian is with the child.

  • Do we cover motorized bicycles?
Yes, provided they are conventional bicycles with standard pedals and chain and mounted with an external electric geared motor. Motorcycles, electric scooters & mopeds are covered under Plus and Premier Memberships only.

  • If a Member is biking and is pulling a child trailer, and a tow is required, will the trailer be towed too?
We will attempt to transport it if possible; however, alternate arrangements may have to be made by the Member at their expense if we are unable to tow the trailer safely and securely.
